Web Design Process

Our design process is a 4 phase process that usually takes from 5 to 8 weeks from beginning to launch.

Phase 1:

It all starts with a simple questionnaire. We ask you about your future plans, your business and industry, your design preferences and more. We use your responses to create a detailed project proposal. We then plan out the information architecture and logical structure for your website taking into account your website copy. Every detail of your site is ironed out in your formal project proposal, including a price quote. We’ll set up your web host and email and create a “Coming Soon” page for your site.

Phase 2:

Do you like the hip Manhattan look or the trendy boutique look? Perhaps you love the left-hand navigation look or the top horizontal navigation look. Do you want to have music on your site or video? Whatever your desires, we’ll focus on you and what you want to express about your business. We take the information we’ve gleaned and design inspired and creative comps for you to review. We’ll present up to 3 layout options that combine color, layout, “feel” and function in a surprising and stylish way. After you choose your favorite layout, we’ll refine it and make it perfect!

Phase 3:

Once the design is approved, we begin coding the site in HTML/CSS or Flash, depending on your design. We’ll build your site with an eye on accessibility and current web-standards. We’ll develop your keywords for your metatags and test your site in current web browsers to make sure it displays well. If your site has an ecommerce component, we’ll customize your store and populate it with sample products.

Phase 4:

At this step, we have set up your hosting/email accounts, thoroughly tested your site and we’re ready to launch. We’ll transfer your site to your server and hit the big red “launch” button! Success! But it’s not over at this point! We offer continued support with troubleshooting, maintenance and other services such as logo and graphic design and copywriting.
